The rich man makes fun of the poor, obese woman on the plane when he hears the captain talking to her.
Startled by his fellow traveler’s size, James made a lighthearted comment to the flight attendant regarding her appetite: “Are you sure that will be enough? Because feeding this woman would probably require a village!
James started mentally formulating grievances on the first-class service after being dismissed by the flight attendant and his seatmate for expressing his displeasure.
“Pardon me, the captain is a huge fan and he’d love to invite you up to the cockpit,” the flight attendant said, bringing a surprise offer. As it happened, she was speaking to Allison Jones, the famous traveler next to him who is well-known for her operatic roles.
James resigned himself to his seat as Allison was taken away, thinking about the emails he would soon send complaining about the airline’s service.
The passengers applauded as the captain announced Allison’s arrival on board and her impending charity concert. James was ashamed of his previous demeanor.
“I don’t care how many millions you have, if you upset that girl again, I’m putting you in economy,” the flight attendant severely informed James. James was chastened, and when Allison returned, he apologized.
James stayed silent the rest of the flight, thinking on his own actions and Allison’s advice to not judge others.
After arriving in Portland, James took in Allison’s advice and decided to adopt a more positive outlook on people, regardless of their notoriety or appearance.
