Malia Obama, 25, makes her Hollywood debut under a new identity.
With her Sundance Film Festival directing debut of “The Heart,” 25-year-old former first daughter Malia Obama has launched her Hollywood career. Notably, she utilized the pseudonym Malia Ann in the movie’s credits rather than her family’s last name. Malia, a Harvard graduate who was born on July 4, 1998, is pursuing a career in screenwriting after being raised in the spotlight.
She was a part of the writing team for the Amazon Prime streaming series “Swarm” in 2021, which included prominent cast members like Rory Culkin and Billie Eilish. Executive producer Stephen Glover stressed that Malia was not given preferential treatment because of her presidential ties, despite her ancestry. “No, she’s really cool and down to earth,” he said. Therefore, it isn’t an issue at all.
Co-creator Janine Nabers has lauded Malia’s talent, saying, “Some of her pitches were wild as hell, and they were just so good and so funny.” She is an amazing author. She contributed a great deal. She is incredibly committed to her work.
Barack and Michelle Obama, her parents, were proud of her recent achievements. “Malia, I hope 25 brings you everything you’re looking for and more,” Barack posted on Instagram. Michelle agreed, saying, “Happy birthday, Malia! Being your mother and being able to see you grow into the amazing young woman you are now makes me feel incredibly fortunate. The president’s daughter, Malia Obama, is paving her way as a Hollywood director and screenwriter, indicating a potential future.
