The family of five, including three children, killed on a tour helicopter that crashed into New York Citys Hudson River have been identified

A family of five—a couple and their three children—lost their lives in a tragic tour helicopter crash into New York City’s Hudson River, and authorities have now confirmed their identities. The victims were Agustín Escobar, president of the Spanish branch of Siemens Mobility; his wife, Merce Camprubi Montal; and their three children, aged four, five, and eleven, along with the 36-year-old pilot.

Reports state that the family had flown in from Barcelona earlier that day and were enjoying a tour over New York City when disaster struck. Witnesses described the helicopter, short on fuel and reportedly experiencing technical issues, spiraling out of control before plunging into the river near the New Jersey side, just off the tip of Lower Manhattan.

Heartbreaking photographs taken before the crash showed the family posing together on the helipad and inside the aircraft—a poignant reminder of the joy and unity they once shared. The pilot had issued a warning that they were out of fuel mere moments before the fatal incident, a detail that has left investigators searching for answers about what went wrong.

This devastating event has sent shockwaves through the community and beyond, as officials continue their investigation into the circumstances that led to the crash. The loss of such a promising family, along with the fatality of the pilot, underscores the profound risks associated with aerial tours and the critical importance of strict safety measures.
