Dad prayed every day for six years to find Kayla Unbehaun alive after she went missing at the age of nine.

After a high-profile case, Heather Unbehaun, who was suspected of kidnapping her daughter from a suburb of Illinois six years ago, has turned herself in. Unbehaun is currently being held without bond on kidnapping charges at the Kane County Adult Justice Center in Illinois.

Kayla Unbehaun was located safe in North Carolina and reunited with her custodial father just days prior to her surrender. On a fugitive warrant from Illinois for kidnapping and child abduction, Heather Unbehaun was taken into custody in North Carolina. According to Samantha Booth, a spokesman for the Asheville Police Department, she was initially detained on a $250,000 bond but was freed on Tuesday after posting bail.

On July 4, 2017, following a parade in South Elgin, Illinois, Kayla was kidnapped. Ryan Iserka, Kayla’s father, was informed by Heather that they were going camping, but they never came back. For Heather’s arrest, a felony warrant was issued.

The breakthrough occurred when an Asheville resident recognized Kayla from “Unsolved Mysteries” on Netflix and informed the police.

Ryan Iserka expressed gratitude to supporters and law enforcement for bringing him and Kayla back together. The next court date for Heather Unbehaun is set for Wednesday morning at the Kane County Judicial Center.
