The little girl, who is now a well-known actress, was left behind by her father, who said she was “dead.”

In 1975, at the height of their careers, a famous musician met legendary actress Goldie Hawn.

When the two happened to cross paths on a first-class flight from New York to Los Angeles, they clicked right away.

Having played with The Beach Boys, The Osmonds, and The Monkees, the musician, who was a member of The Hudson Brothers, was already well-known in the music industry. Along with his musical career, he had appearances in TV series and movies, most notably the cult favorite Hysterical.

The musician recalled their initial meeting and said there was an unmistakable spark between them. “The attraction was immediate. That evening, I asked her to dinner, and that was it,” he said. Their physical bond was a major factor in the rapid escalation of their relationship.

The level of intimacy was astounding. According to the Daily Mail, he said, “The [intimacy] was always amazing, even when everything else in the relationship turned sour.” There were times when it seemed like they were moving forward in their relationship, despite its ups and downs.

When Goldie was expecting their first child, a son, the couple were married in 1976. But there were some issues with the delivery of their son. He was diagnosed with meconium aspiration, a potentially fatal illness where a baby inhales meconium-contaminated amniotic fluid, at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles.

The couple was extremely distressed when the newborn was placed in isolation for three days after birth. The musician recalled, “Goldie and I were beside ourselves.” He went on to say: “I would go from her bedside to the neonatal intensive care unit because she was really sick.” According to the physicians, [son’s name] would not survive. However, [he] persevered, and he became our priceless miracle right away.

The couple’s second child, a daughter, was born in 1979, three years later. The foursome had many wonderful years together, but when the guitarist found out Goldie had cheated on him in 1981, their marriage tragically ended. The musician’s desire for a conventional marriage ran counter to Goldie’s beliefs about commitment.

“She told me almost on our wedding night that she wanted an open marriage and that she couldn’t imagine being faithful to one man for the rest of her life because she was having affairs,” he disclosed to the Daily Mail. I want a conventional marriage, but Goldie was unable to agree. I eventually left home.

In 1983, Goldie started dating actor Kurt Russell following their breakup. Although they had first crossed paths in 1968 while working on The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band, their romance didn’t really take off until they reunited on the Swing Shift set. Three years into their relationship, in 1986, their son, Wyatt Russell, was born.

It was a big adjustment to combine their families. “For me, it felt like such a big moment because it was like, ‘My mom is madly in love with this guy,'” Goldie’s daughter recounted. And I was meeting his son [Boston], so I thought, ‘Does this indicate that this is my brother?'” she continued. At such a young age, it was a lot to bear.

Goldie’s children from her previous marriage struggled with feelings of abandonment after their parents’ divorce. Her son recalled how their biological father gradually distanced himself from their family. Reflecting on a controversial Father’s Day post dedicated to Kurt, he said: “It doesn’t really matter which one of these men is my father. My pa stepped in when I was six and made me the man I am today.”

Both siblings have fond memories of Kurt stepping into the role of father figure. Though their relationship with their biological father, Bill, remains strained, they often express gratitude for Kurt’s dedication.

Meanwhile, Bill has openly voiced his feelings of betrayal, accusing Goldie of “poisoning” their children against him. Despite the tension, Kate and Oliver are focused on healing from their past and maintaining a positive outlook for the future, per Hello!.

By 2015, Oliver’s contentious Father’s Day post on social media made the tense relationship with Bill public. “Happy abandonment day… @katehudson,” he said as the caption for a vintage photo he posted of himself, Kate, and Bill.

“Oliver could have picked up the phone and called me, but he hasn’t,” Bill said in an interview after becoming enraged by the tweet. He picked the picture and shared it on Father’s Day when he knew it would hurt people the most, which was obviously intentional.

Bill went further to claim that if Oliver wanted to cut him out of their lives, he had succeeded. The fallout only deepened when Kate followed Oliver’s lead and posted her own tribute to Kurt, which added to the tension.

Kate appeared on Howard Stern’s show, speaking about how Kurt was the father who was present during the difficult and challenging times. In response, Bill stated, per the Daily Mail: “I would ask them to stop using the Hudson name [because] they are no longer a part of my life.”

He further expressed: “Oliver’s Instagram post was a malicious, vicious, premeditated attack; he is dead to me now, as is Kate. I am mourning their loss even though they are still walking this earth.” Following this, Bill decided to remove all childhood memorabilia of Kate and Oliver from his home, according to the Daily Mail report.

Kurt has accepted his duty as a grandfather to Kate and Oliver’s children, even if Bill and his older children live far apart.

Bill is still bitter, but Kate and Oliver have moved on and are concentrating on their relationships with their stepfather, Kurt.
