Donald Trump, Jr. has nothing but kind works for fiancé Kimberly Guilfoyle who on Wednesday was nominated to serve as the incoming administration’s new ambassador to Greece.
Questions about the couple, who have been engaged since 2020, began to emerge when they were no longer seen together after photographs emerged of Don Jr. dining with another woman, a moment she admitted to being “blindsided” by. Despite sources saying the two have privately called off plans for future vows, they have kept up appearances, most recently during the former first son’s surprise visit to the Balkans in September while encouraging an end to the war in Ukraine. Now living in Athens, Guilfoyle will be the Trump-Vance administration’s point person for engaging with the historically friendly nation, and that’s welcome news to Don Jr. “I am so proud of Kimberly. She loves America and she always has wanted to serve the country as an Ambassador. She will be an amazing leader for America First,” he said in a statement to the Daily Mail.
Earlier this fall, the eldest Trump prodigy was seen dining with Bettina Anderson, 38, leading to a fallout with Guilfoyle. A source confirmed to the outlet: “There is no more Kimberly and Don – at least not romantically. Their engagement hasn’t officially been called off yet. They were waiting until after the Inauguration to announce.” Photographs of the lunch date showed the two exchanging kisses inside Palm Beach’s swanky Royal Poinciana Plaza. Anderson, a model, influencer, and philanthropist, has been described as the “it girl” by Palm Beach goers gossiping about the new relationship.
Guilfoyle, 55, has been a Palm Beach socialite for most of her life and is well-regarded for her local charitable efforts. Her father, Harry Loy Anderson Jr., who died in 2013, was the youngest-ever president of the city’s Worth Avenue National Bank. Her mother, Inger, 74, currently resides in an $11.5 million area mansion, while Guilfoyle stays in a relatively more austere $860,000 West Palm Beach home. On their six-year anniversary together, Don Jr. showered his fiancé with praise. “Happy 6 year anniversary @kimberlyguilfoyle thanks for always being there no matter what the haters are throwing our way. I love you,” he wrote on social media four months before the rendezvous with Anderson.
Although some may see the appointment to Greece as a possible consolation prize for the end of her relationship with his son, President-elect Trump gushed over Guilfoyle’s ambassadorship in a post on Truth Social. “Her extensive experience and leadership in law, media, and politics along with her sharp intellect make her supremely qualified to represent the United States, and safeguard its interests abroad,” Trump said Tuesday. “Kimberly is perfectly suited to foster strong bilateral relations with Greece, advancing our interests on issues ranging from defense cooperation to trade and economic innovation.”
Prior to her time in the Trump family orbit, Guilfoyle was a practicing prosecutor in San Francisco and Los Angeles. She had been a regular contributor on Fox News before meeting Don Jr. A source close to the president-elect described the plum perch as more than a simple international outpost: “There were a ton of people vying for this. It is one of the hottest posts in the world,” said a source to the Daily Mail. “Not just because it’s an amazing place place to live, but because it’s a hotbed of activity with everything that is happening in Syria, throughout the middle east, and the migrant crisis.”
